McAMS Yamaha are delighted to confirm that Ben Currie and Harry Truelove will remain with the team for the 2027 British Supersport Championship, continuing their development aboard the evolving Yamaha R9 after a strong first year of competition.
As the established McAMS Yamaha team extended their activity into the British Supersport Championship at the start of 2026, Australia’s Currie and Lincolnshire’s Truelove hit the ground running, quickly honing the R9 to suit the series’ unique circuits. Their work has produced nine podium finishes between them in the last nine rounds, including two victories for Currie at Donington Park and Knockhill.
With his future confirmed, Currie is determined to challenge for the title in 2027, after a crash at Oulton Park in July ended his 2026 championship hopes prematurely. Resilient in the face of adversity, the Australian made a remarkable recovery, returning to the saddle of the McAMS Yamaha R9 at Cadwell Park just four weeks after the crash and quickly proving competitive. Now back to full fitness, he and the team are focused on finishing the season on a high and building confidence with the R9 before preparations for next year begin.
Truelove’s season has gathered pace as his understanding of the R9 has grown, and a third podium of 2026 at his home circuit of Cadwell Park further boosted his confidence in the developing package. Frequently in the mix at the sharp end of the field, the Lincolnshire rider has proved an invaluable asset to the team’s new British Supersport squad. Signed for 2027, Truelove and his side of the garage are aiming to carry that momentum through the closing rounds of 2026, with a front-running challenge firmly in their sights for next season.
The announcement arrives after McAMS, the UK’s leading motorcycle accident management firm, commits to supporting the team in their 2027 efforts – spearheaded by Bradley Ray in the premier class – marking a decade of partnership with the widely-recognised Raceways-run outfit.
The McAMS Yamaha name was born in 2017 and has since claimed over 50 race victories, as well as the 2021 British Superbike title with Tarran Mackenzie. In 2027, the team’s British Supersport programme will continue as Yamaha Motor UK’s supported effort in the National series – with the ambition of extracting more from the package and turning this year’s promising form into a genuine challenge for the championship.
