Ray Takes Eighteenth Podium of 2026 as McAMS Yamaha Finish Third in the Standings
The final round of the 2026 British Superbike Championship delivered McAMS Yamaha and Bradley Ray with an impressive Sunday podium, and third overall in the season standings after a relentless year of fight.
Friday at Brands Hatch brought early challenges for the McAMS Yamaha crew, with Ray finishing fifteenth and tenth in the opening two Free Practice sessions aboard the R1.
Further set-up refinements helped the 29-year-old to sixth in the pivotal Pre-Qualifying session, securing a place in Qualifying 2 with a 1:24.845 to end the day.
The McAMS-backed rider moved into Saturday with confidence after an improved feeling to close Friday, but he was determined to make further steps ahead of the weekend’s opening race. Qualifying proved a challenging session for the squad, ending with Ray ninth and work to do ahead of the 20-lap Race 1.
A handful of significant changes to the R1 gave Ray the tools to stay close to the front-running group throughout Saturday’s 20-lap race. He finished a hard-earned seventh, which also secured an improved fifth-place grid position for Sunday’s Sprint.
That improved starting spot left Ray well placed to mount a fierce attack at the front in the final Sprint Race of 2026. He entered podium contention on Lap 2 and set his fastest lap of the weekend on Lap 4 to claim provisional pole position for Race 3.
Dropping back to fourth but refusing to settle, he fought back into second, passing Kyle Ryde for the runner-up spot at Starlings on Lap 10. The result gave the McAMS-backed rider his eighteenth podium of the season and a third-place start for the final race of 2026.
Ray ended the weekend with a shortened, challenging 14-lap wet race, bringing the R1 home fourteenth while struggling to find confident grip around Brands Hatch.
The team wrap up the year third overall in the standings with an impressive eighteen podiums, and head into the off-season hungry to begin preparations for a fight back in 2027.
In the British Supersport Championship, Ben Currie and Harry Truelove ended Friday’s two Free Practice sessions eighth and fourteenth respectively in the combined standings, heading into Saturday with more pace to unlock.
Some overnight steps on the #61 side of the garage rewarded Currie with fifth in Saturday morning’s Qualifying ahead of the Sprint Race, while Truelove ended the session fifteenth.
From the second row at lights out, Currie made an impressive start into podium contention before dropping back to defend fourth until the chequered flag. It was an assertive effort that kept him fifth on the grid for Sunday’s Feature Race. Truelove progressed to thirteenth at the flag, refusing to settle after a challenging build-up to the opening race.
Sunday’s Feature Race was a bitter pill for the squad. A gamble on slick tyres in wet but drying conditions didn’t pay off for Currie, who dropped down the order and finished 22nd. Truelove took the flag in fifteenth to end his season with a final handful of points.
The McAMS Yamaha R9 duo of Currie and Truelove ended their first season aboard the new model sixth and eighth respectively, and are already encouraged to bounce back with a strong attack in 2027.

“It’s been a tough season, to be honest. We didn’t expect the Ducati to be as strong as it has been, and we found that out around round one. That being said, we continued to refine the R1 this season, find an improved feeling, and prove that it’s still a package caple of fighting for podiums and wins. This season, it has been the case of cracking on, putting in the work with the team and trying to improve what we could. We put up a good fight throughout the year. I had a couple of wins, which were hard to come by this year, and we were always knocking on the door of the podium, with top fours and top fives too. The team have done a mega job. We’ve kept grafting, kept our heads down and kept working. I’m proud to take third in the championship. It’s not what we come here for, but when someone has a season like that, it’s hard to take it away from them. It’s been good, and I’m looking forward to next year already. Massive thanks to all our sponsors, and to Yamaha Motor UK for the support.”

“Unfortunately, not the way we wanted to end the season, that’s for sure. I was doing everything I could to get a podium before the end of the year, and maybe sometimes when you try so hard, it just seems to go the other way. The harder you push for something, the further away it goes. It was clear for everyone to see that I made the wrong tyre choice, and so did a few others, but not many. We were riding around on slicks in very, very wet conditions, which wasn’t ideal. The track was bone dry on the start straight, so I thought I’d made the correct decision, but when I went out the back of the circuit, it was completely wet. It is what it is. Luckily, we’re not fighting for any championship points. It was just for pride going into the off-season. I just want to say a massive thanks to my crew at McAMS Yamaha. It’s been a mega year, and I’m hungry now to go into the off-season and get to work in preparing for the next.”

“I’m leaving Brands Hatch feeling pretty good overall. The weekend has presented its challenges, but I feel like with the wet sessions in particular, we’ve made a big step forward with confidence and the overall feeling on the Yamaha R9 – especially compared to Assen where we were nowhere in the wet. It’s swings and roundabouts in racing. We’ll take it all on, get dialled in for next year and crack on with the goal of making another strong start. A big thanks to the McAMS Yamaha team for all their hard work this weekend, and throughout the season. We can head into the off season feeling positive about what we’ve achieved together and carry some strong form into next year.”

“It’s been a long, demanding season, and I’m incredibly proud of everyone in the team. To finish the year with an eighteenth podium for Bradley and third in the championship, as the top Yamaha squad, is a fantastic reward for the hard work that’s gone in. Brands Hatch was a tough weekend at times, but the way Brad fought back through the Sprint Race to take second, and the way the crew kept making progress on the R1 all weekend, shows exactly what this team is about. In British Supersport, Ben and Harry have done a great job in our first season with the new R9. It wasn’t the finish we wanted in the Feature Race, but there’s a lot to be positive about, and sixth and seventh in the standings gives us a strong base to build on. We’ll head into the off-season hungry, and we’re already looking forward to fighting back in 2027.”
