McAMS Yamaha Chase More Momentum as Yamaha's 30th Anniversary Celebrations Head to Brands Hatch

Round 5: Brands Hatch

McAMS Yamaha head to Brands Hatch this weekend for the fifth round of the 2026 British Superbike and British Supersport Championship. The Kent circuit carries added excitement for the team, who sit at the centre of Yamaha Motor UK’s celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the national series, with Brad Ray set to appear on track in a special edition, heritage-inspired Yamaha R1 livery across all three races.

Ray, and the team’s Yamaha R9 Supersport line-up, are also set to appear on track aboard some iconic Yamaha machinery of the past, during an exclusive Yamaha Motor UK parade lap. The lap will feature an old gem of the acclaimed team – the 2021 McAMS Yamaha R1, ridden by Tarran Mackenzie to the championship crown.

As the national series roars back to action this weekend, Ray and the McAMS Yamaha team carry strong momentum from last time out at Snetterton, where they secured their first race victory of the 2026 campaign, capping off the weekend with a second podium finish of the year in third place.

Continuing to ride the wheels off the Yamaha R1 and spearhead Yamaha’s effort in the series, the championship hopeful has his eyes fixed on fighting at the front of the pack during the visit to his local venue – keen to make a further statement of intent as the championship nears its halfway point.

Ray, hopeful for another strong weekend of battle, enjoyed a fruitful outing at Brands Hatch last year, where he secured his first win at the Grand Prix venue during the series’ earlier visit to the track, also picking up multiple podium finishes at the season opener last October. Ray and the team remain confident in their prospects as Brands Hatch approaches, feeling up for the fight and ready to answer any challenges.

In the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, Ben Currie and Harry Truelove are also well up for the fight again, following a mixed weekend at Snetterton two weeks ago.

Currie retained second place in the standings after the two races at Snetterton and sits 36 points shy of the top spot heading into the fifth round of the calendar. Ready to put the challenges of Snetterton behind him and focus on fine-tuning the all-new Yamaha R9 at a brand-new circuit, he and the team remain focused in their pursuit of additional strong results and ready to push on at the front of the pack.

Lincolnshire’s Truelove secured his second podium finish of the year at Snetterton last time out, adding fuel to the fire as his 2026 campaign progresses. With a comfortable feeling aboard the new package, the #44 side of the garage head into the weekend with eyes on the podium – ready to give it everything across the weekend’s two races.

Brad Ray

McAMS Yamaha - Rider (British Superbike Championship)

“I’m looking forward to getting back aboard the McAMS Yamaha R1 at Brands Hatch this weekend – it’s a local circuit for me, and one that I’ve always enjoyed racing at. I know within myself that I haven’t ever ridden as hard as I’m riding at the moment, we’re pushing so close to the limit every weekend to secure the results that we are, and with a comfortable feeling aboard the R1, I’m confident that we can do the same again this weekend. The Brands Hatch weekend will be a pivotal one for the championship, so we’ll aim for consistency at the top end of the field and bring home a solid set of results. We’re ready again to give it our all, and we’ve got all the tools we need to fight for wins and podiums. This weekend, we’ll also be running a special edition livery across the three races in celebration of 30 Years of BSB, which adds another element of excitement heading into the weekend. It’s going to be a big one!”

Ben Currie

McAMS Yamaha - Rider (Quattro Group British Supersport)

“Brands Hatch is an important weekend for myself and the guys at McAMS Yamaha. We’re sat second in the championship standings heading into the weekend, and I’m feeling ready to put Snetterton behind us and aim towards achieving a strong set of results. My feeling aboard the Yamaha R9 is improving every weekend, and I feel confident in myself and in the team that we can claw back same points over the two races across the weekend. I can’t wait to get back to work on Friday and kick the weekend off strong. Brands Hatch is a circuit I’ve been strong at in the past, so I’m excited to see what can be achieved with the R9 underneath me.”

Harry Truelove

McAMS Yamaha - Rider (Quattro Group British Supersport)

“Brands Hatch will be a good weekend for me and the team at McAMS Yamaha. I’m looking forward to getting back aboard the Yamaha R9 and picking things back up were we left off at Snetterton. Last round was a memorable one for me, having rode to a second podium finish of the year. Our pace throughout Sunday didn’t fully showcase our potential, but I’m looking ahead to Brands Hatch feeling confident that we’ll have what it takes to produce some more strong results. My feeling with the R9 is growing ever weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes on the grand prix circuit.”

Steve Rodgers

McAMS Yamaha, Team Principal

“Brands Hatch is set to be a memorable weekend for us as a team, with Brad running a special edition livery aboard the R1 throughout all three races. Special liveries are always nice to run – they look stunning on track, and hopefully we can achieve some results that are just as strong. Brad knows what he has to do this weekend; he’s riding the R1 harder than he ever has before, and if his speed is as impressive as it was at Snetterton last time out, we’re confident we’ll be able to give it a good go across the weekend and bag some valuable points for the championship. Ben and Harry continue development of the R9 this weekend, at a circuit where we haven’t taken the new model before. It might be a slower start to the weekend on that side of the garage as the guys work towards optimising a set-up for the unique characteristics of Brands, but when they find their feet, I have no doubt we’ll be able to cause some trouble at the front.”
