McAMS Racing Eager for Brands Hatch Return
With Round 6 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch drawing near, McAMS Racing and Danny Kent are eagerly awaiting their return to track action after a challenging outing at Snetterton last time out.
After fighting amongst the top positions in the championship within the early stages of their 2024 campaign, the family-run team approached the iconic, Kent-based venue in joint fifth in the overall standings.
The weather-affected weekend at the last round in Norwich presented some challenges to Kent and the team, which saw them slip outside of the top three for the first time this season, to sit on equal points with fellow R1 rider, Kyle Ryde.
Despite the struggles, both rider and team remain optimistic for the Brands Hatch weekend, where both halves have performed well previously and hope to build on what has been overall, a positive first half of the championship.
As a circuit that very much suits the riding style of former Grand Prix rider, Kent, the No.52 rider stormed to two separate podium finishes on opposing machinery last year.
With aboard a more suiting package for 2024, hopes are high that the weekend ahead presents the opportunity for him to resume position within the leading three and add to his tally of 4 podium finishes so far this season.
In 2023, under their previous title of Mar-Train Racing, the McAMS Racing squad achieved the best result of their campaign at the circuit in fourth place, boding well for a positive weekend of track action.
Both the teams and Kent’s track record at the southern venue begs the question as to whether or not that long-awaited, debut race victory lies within the pipeline.
Following the usual fashion, the three-day weekend presents three point-scoring opportunities to Kent and the team, and a real chance to leap back up the standings and into the top 3.
Although currently in fifth with 147 points, a small margin of just 30 points separates him and the championship leader of Irishman, Glenn Irwin.
Danny Kent
Rider
“I can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch this weekend. It’s one of my favourite tracks on the calendar and one that I’ve had good results at in the past. After losing out on some points last time out at Snetterton, I think it has come at a good time for both me and the team. The main objective for this weekend is to build on those championship points, with the goal of gaining on the championship leaders. I’m excited to see what’s possible and looking forward to swinging my leg back over my McAMS Racing Yamaha R1 Superbike.”
Tim Martin
Team Owner
“Brands Hatch is a circuit that Danny likes, and one that we as a team have done well at over the years. We were close to the podium there last year so, obviously, the aim is to go one better than that on our return. Danny is fully fit ahead of the weekend, and the bike is in a great place following our weekend at Snetterton. We’re expecting a large turnout of guests this weekend too, so hopefully we have a nice dry few days with some positive results along the way.”
