The second round of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park was a difficult affair of on-track battle for McAMS Racing and Danny Kent, who rode to a best place finish of P8 in the final race of the triple-header.
For Kent and the McAMS-backed crew, the challenges began from the off, after a crash during Friday’s Free Practice 1 session caused considerable damage to the Mar-Train-owned Yamaha R1.
The team worked like clockwork to get the bike out in time for Free Practice 2, where Kent finished 14th, having struggled to find a confident feeling.
A tough Friday on-track saw the team have to go through Qualifying 1 on Saturday. A successful first Qualifying session saw Kent jump through to Q2, where we went on to finish P10 to secure a place on the fourth row.
With a 20-lap charge awaiting, Kent aboard the R1 made every effort to push through the pack.
Still sat in 10th, an incident on the final corner of Lap 10 saw Kent run onto the grass, losing two positions to slip back to P12. The second half of the race saw him pick off a duo of riders to cross the line in P10.
Starting Race 2 from P11 on the grid, Kent slipped back to P13 before pushing through to P11 on Lap 5. The former Moto3 World Champion held position for the remainder of the 12-lap stint, collecting a handful of points for the standings.
With Kent going again from the fourth row in P10 for the final race of the weekend, he fought through and answered pressure from rivals to finish P8 at the flag and secure his best result of the weekend.
For McAMS Racing and Kent, the weekend added a total of 19 championship points to the bank. Heading towards Snetterton for Bennetts BSB Round 3 in four weeks, they sit P7 in the standings.
The team are feeling eager to claw back some points in the Snetterton weekend on 20-22 June.

“It’s been a tough weekend for us but not through a lack of trying. I had a big crash early in the weekend which put us on the back foot, but credit to the team for rebuilding my bike and getting back out there. I didn’t quite manage to find the feeling in the races, which is disappointing given our expectations coming into the weekend. Thankfully, these weekends don’t come too often, and we’ll keep our heads up and try again at Snetterton.”

Team Owner
“It wasn’t the weekend we all hoped for here at Donington Park. We had high expectations and unfortunately it didn’t quite come together, which happens in racing. Danny kept fighting till the end but didn’t quite have the feeling he needed to fight near the front. He scored a few crucial points and will be back fighting at Snetterton.”
