Danny Kent

Danny Kent is a Bennetts British Superbike Championship rider from Chippenham, best known for his success in the 2015 Moto3 World Championship where he became the first British World Champion since Barry Sheene in 1977.

Starting his career on mini moto bikes, Kent showed promise from a young age, working through various UK Championships before being selected for the Red Bull MotoGP Academy and competing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2009 and 2010.

A brace of strong seasons saw him pick up a multitude of podiums and race wins along the way, narrowly missing out on the 2010 title to now-fellow Yamaha rider Jake Gagne.

Kent’s early racing success earned him a place in the final-ever 125cc World Championship in 2011 with the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport team. He continued to develop as a rider and demonstrate raw talent on two wheels, eventually leading him to join the Leopard Honda team for 2015, following a short stint in the Moto2 World Championship.

His debut year with the Leopard Honda squad saw the Englishman go on to become Britain’s first World Champion since Barry Sheene 38 years prior, winning six races and taking nine podiums along the way.

After another step up to Moto2 didn’t quite work out, the Britain would return to racing in the UK, first riding in the National Superstock Championship before progressing to British Superbikes with the Buildbase Suzuki team.

Following his time on the Suzuki, Kent rode for his own private Honda team, showing signs of promise yet again by securing podium finishes at Brands Hatch. Sadly, his season was cut short after a significant crash at Thruxton.

For 2024, Kent joined the new-look McAMS Racing by Mar-Train squad, with the intention of capitalising on the strengths of the Yamaha R1, which has been one of the most dominant bikes in recent seasons of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

The 2024 season saw Kent and the team complete their most competitive campaign in the domestic series, securing a debut win in the class at the final round of Brands Hatch, along with eight separate podium finishes throughout the year.

Finishing fourth overall in the Championship standings and wrapping up the season with good sensations, McAMS Racing and Kent will return to action for 2025, hoping to extend their impressive run of good form in the series.
